McMillan Construction Management of Cornelius will build a $1.4 million fine arts and theater addition at the Community School of Davidson.

The 22,000-square-foot expansion will add a visual and performing arts wing, along with the theater.

It’s the second contract at the charter school for McMillan Construction. In July, the company completed a 7,000-square-foot renovation of classrooms, the gymnasium and other areas of the school.

An anonymous donor’s gift is funding the latest work, says Kevin Green, director of business management and personnel at the Community School. Work should be complete by June, he says.

The Community School currently has 1,187 students, with the first graduating class scheduled for 2014.
