Currently enrolled in the Cornell University Commercial Real Estate Development program, McMillan holds a CAPS III certification, a Master Contractor certification, and an NC Unlimited Licensed Building Contractor license since 1999, demonstrating his commitment to excellence, safety, and sustainability in the design and construction industry.

McMillan’s goal is to provide lasting value to all projects that he is involved in. Michael, his wife Kathleen, and their three children live in Davidson NC on a property that was designed and built in 2020 by McMillan Design Build. Michael served in the Navy in the Construction Battalion known as the Seabee. While in the reserves, he attended the University of Dayton in Ohio, prior to moving to North Carolina in 1997.

He is actively involved in nonprofit organizations, is on the Board of Directors at Pharos Parenting, National Exchange Club and Evening club of Lake Norman, and the Rotary Club of Davidson. A quote from John Ruskin has been a touchstone for Mike as a man devoted to quality, transparency and customer satisfaction:
